China’s output growth of CNC machine tools has further increased. Machine tool industry data shows that the CNC machine tool output growth reached 66% in April, higher than the March level of 62%, and industry growth rate is further improving. From a production point of view, April’s CNC machine tool data output reached 1.7 million units, and is much higher than March’s unit count, indicating that machine tool demand continues to rise.

In April, with the expanding production of CNC machine tools, China’s numerical control machine tool industry showed growth levels of 27.5%, which was down 0.5% compared with March, but still at a high level. Compared with the levels of 70% of developed countries, growth in the industry still has big room for improvement.

Downstream drivers remain strong. In April, China’s auto production reached 1.6 million units, which was a decline compared with March, but still a high level. Recently, the major car manufacturers have expanded production capacity which has helped enhance the foundation for the machine tool industry’s strong development.

Main raw materials are also moving at low prices. Iron and steel, for example, peaked in price in July 2008, while through 2009 and 2010 prices have been kept low, which effectively extends the machine tool industry’s profit margins.
